How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is a one-time flat rate based on your location within Canada. We use tiered pricing to keep rates fair and consistent, with pricing applicable to orders up to five bags.
Do you accept returns?
Unfortunately, as coffee is a perishable item we cannot accept returns. That being said, if your order isn't everything you hoped for, please reach out to us at sales@theunderratedbean.com and we'll work with you to find a solution.
How come you don't ship to the United States?
Currently, we're focused on shipping across Canada. We're looking forward to serving U.S. customers down the line!
How many bags of coffee can I purchase at once?
You can purchase a maximum of 5 bags of coffee per order.

How long will my coffee take to arrive?
Orders are generally processed within 1-3 business days and delivered using Standard Shipping across Canada in 3-9 business days, depending on your location.
Will I have to pay tax (GST & PST) on the coffee?
No - coffee is considered a basic grocery item by the government of Canada, so it is not subject to GST or PST.
Product Information and Guidance
Do we roast our own coffee?
No - we don't roast our own coffee, and we're proud of that! Our beans are grown, harvested, and roasted in their country of origin before arriving in Canada. No green beans here! This preserves the authentic character, flavour and culture of each region, rather than trying imitate it locally. For us, authenticity is at the heart of everything we do and it's what makes our coffees stand out!
Is our coffee ground or whole bean?
All of the coffees we currently sell are whole bean, not ground. This is important to us as it best preserves the coffee's freshness, flavour and aroma.
How should I store my coffee?
Keep your coffee in a well-sealed opaque container in a cool, dark place. This preserves freshness, flavour and aroma for every cup.

Coffee Origins & Education
What makes your coffee special?
We let the beans do the talking, bringing you the real lives, honest stories and vibrant cultures behind every cup. All of our coffees are grown, harvested and roasted in their country of origin - so you can enjoy them as they were meant to be experienced. From the organized chaos of Hanoi's Old Quarter to the multicultural flavours of Malaysia and the rich traditions of Taiwan, there's more to your cup than meets the eye. No green beans here - just exceptional coffee paired with even better stories.
I've never heard of Robusta beans. What makes them underrated?
Robusta coffee is fiesty, dark and bold featuring roughly double the caffeine of Arabica. It's strong and slightly bitter flavour pairs perfectly with sweet additions like condensed milk, a staple of classic Vietnamese coffee. Robusta is celebrated for it's strength, character and deep connection to Vietnamese heritage, dating back to the mid 1800's. Coffee runs deep through their veins!
I've never heard of Liberica beans. What makes them underrated?
While not as widely enjoyed as Arabica or Robusta, Liberica coffee is truly unique in it's profile - just like the bean itself. Expect a complex medley of floral, fruity, smoky and earthy notes with a strong, lingering finish. it may take a cup or two to fully appreciate it's distinct character, but once you do, it just might change the way you think about coffee.
Where do you source your coffee beans from?
We curate our beans from dedicated and deserving farmers & roasters starting in South East Asia. While our journey started in Vietnam, our travels haven't ended there. We are always seeking out the underrated and if you have a coffee you think we need to try we'd love to hear from you! Get it touch with us here!
